Venus, the Evening Star for Skywatch Friday
Last weekend we enjoyed watching our two little grandsons who were very excited when their Grampy David pointed out Venus, the Evening Star to them. They had a good view of it standing on their front doorstep. And better yet their DaDa was able to take some very good pictures of the planet. These two little guys[aged 3 and 5] know all about the planets and the Solar System. They're probably standing on their step right now watching it tonight! And I was right! Here are my two little grandsons tonight watching Venus from their home in the belle province de Quebec." There it is, its Venus"
Thanks to guest photographer Davis for the great pictures"!Merci Davis!"
Happy Skywatch Friday to all. My appreciative thanks to Sandy, Klaus, Ivar, Wren and Fishing Guyand Louise for hosting Sky Watch Friday
It was rather interesting for me to read the blog. Thanx for it. I like such topics and everything connected to this matter. I would like to read a bit more soon.
ReplyDeleteLove the first photo. It's almost like a painting.
ReplyDeleteFYI, your link had an error in it, and I couldn't get here from the SWF site. I fixed it, but please be so kind to check before you hit "enter" so people can get where they want to go and you can get your visitors!
Thank you, Louise
ReplyDeleteA beautiful picture of the star - and an even lovelier and touching one of your grandsons. That one is definitely a keeper!
ReplyDeleteShowing things like this to the youngsters is so rewarding. These are memories they will carry with them.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,Ruth
Heart warming post; very striking shot through the trees.
ReplyDeleteGreat Skywatch! I love the one of your grandchildren. Precious! I like the Skywatch picture below, too.
ReplyDeleteWe are avid night sky watchers. My husband has three telescopes to keep him busy. For my Sky Watch I was able to capture some sunrise colour with our first snow up at the cabin. I invite you to come see. - Margy
ReplyDeleteThe first dark one is my favourite , looks a bit spooky
ReplyDeleteVery nice and how great that they already are excited about watching the skies. Little "skywachers" in the making :-)
ReplyDeleteI love how the sky looks pink in the second one. Nice captures! What great memories with your precious grandsons!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI love that your children are learning Astronomy!
In Nov. 2009, the evening star is Jupiter...
Venus has, after being the Morning Star, just disappeared behind the sun in its superior conjunction and will become the Evening Star in the spring.
Venus will cross in front of the sun on 6/6/2012 in it's inferior conjunction. Mayans have interesting legends about Venus...and Hollywood makes some pretty wild movies, too. :D
