A Raccoon's Lucky Day

     This was one lucky raccoon who chose to cross a busy street on Sunday in downtown Fredericton.  It made it safely across the street... and just a comment on a lesson learned by me.  I most always take my camera with my telephoto lens attached onto it, with me.  But on this day I just had my little point and shoot Sony camera.  Later in the day we came upon a flock of Canada Geese and a handsome Great Blue Heron, but alas I didn't get successful pictures.  My lesson was half learned.  I say half-learned for I went out yesterday morning and spied a beautiful white-tailed deer in the Currie woods.  i did not have the appropiate camera with me. Today, when I go out I shall take the appropiate camera with telephoto lens with me!

White-throated Sparrow for Camera Critters

         While sitting in my sunroom glancing out the window onto Bird Alley I spied slight movement under one of my feeders and the yellow lores and its white bib  of a little sparrow alerted me to a possible White-throated Sparrow.  This was a species I hadn't seen since the spring.  Oh Happy Day!  This little sparrow was a beautiful sighting. Taking another sip of my Camomile Tea I was in a delightful mood and snapped a few sparrow pictures!  This is one of my favourite little sparrows.  It is so handsome with its attractive yellow lores.

Benches

Yesterday the photo challenge of a photography group I belong too was "benches". I.

I thought that this theme fit well here with my nature blog as many of you, readers, are the kind of people who often enjoy a walk through nature and an inviting bench with a "sit for a while attitude " about its appearance is invitational and welcome.  That criteria fits the first two benches featured here, and their building supplies as well came straight from Ma Nature's woodland surplus.

   These next two benches overlook a rushing river with rapids at this location. These benches, indded are a welcome diversion to a walk at this location.

Scenic locations with a view are always a good idea such as this bench below at at. Andrews NB overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay.

Below this bench beside an old churn suggests ,this bench at historic Kings Landing Village . may have been used to sit while one was churning away.Tired after a day of shopping or just waiting for a bus, this unique bench outside of Market square  invites one to sit awhile and share the space with others of a sculptured kind.shopping area in Saint John, Nb
The light in this area adds a soft , relaxing ambience to this seculded sitting area.  "Sit a while".  All you need with you is a good book.

Blue Jays

With the cooler weather and the replenishing of our feeders with black-oiled sunflowers seeds we are enjoying many daily visits of loud, noisy, squawk y Blue jays recently.  A favorite feeding place for them is at our  sunflower seed bell.

AFemale Downy Woodpecker and a Chickadee

                                                     "Well, Hello there!"

                              A seed bell covered with black-oiled sunflower sees continues to be a big draw  in bird alley. this morning constant visitors were this female downy woodpecker and  a constant regular, this Black-capped Chickadee.  The little Red-breasted Nuthatch hasn't been seen here yet this morning. Its a loverly day for feeding birds.  Observing these little birds is  a great window-side activity. have a great day everyone on this Canadian Thanksgiving Monday holiday!

Yellow light through the woods for Mellow Yellow Monday

                                      One afternoon last week my husband and I went out to the woods to see this waterfall location. I was very impression with the sunlight filtering through the trees here sunlight yellow in all its glory!
