We have a lot of Common Redpolls visiting our feeder area each day. Now and then I see one that stands out from all of the others because of a difference in its appearance. This male 
Common Redpoll, which I saw this morning, was noticably outstanding as it appeared to have an excessive amount of red on its breast and feathers. .jpg)
Beautiful! So much like the Purple finches and House finches. I had to get out my Roger Tory Peterson to look them up. I see they don't usually get as far south as I am. It always seems strange that what is "common" for one person never shows up elsewhere :-)
