With a whirl and a twirl and a twist ( edited with the distort sphereize filter feature of photoshop) and a turn this Red-bellied Woodpecker makes a thrust for the bird suet in Bird Alley. It is not that common to see a Red-bellied Woodpecker in our region on a daily basis, but this year there have been many sightings of this woodpecker in our province. and that makes me very happy as they are such beautiful birds to see! Every so many years an irruption of these birds occurs and the last I remember was in 2004.

ReplyDeleteGreat shots!! We have several of Red-bellied Woodpeckers around, and they really are a favorite to spot and take pictures of, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteCool twist on the Red bellied woodpecker. I am lucky enough to have my own personal RB woody that is constantly in my yard and I dearly love him. Such great company. Funny to hear of your "eruption." It should be a enjoyable winter if you keep the suet feeder full!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Great shots of this lovely bird! It's one of my favorites to see around here.
