foliage the ruby throat of this Ruby- throated Humming -bird radiates a message of its presence. It is only the male of this species that has the brillant red throat. The Ruby-throated is the only hummingbird that breeds in eastern North America.

What an elegant bird. Majestic. Such a wonderful combination of greens, a bit of blue(?), white, yellow, black, and of course that bright red.

ReplyDeleteThis is the plumpest little fellow I have seen. Those that stop at my feeder seem much slimmer. Maybe I'm not feeding them enough.

Aren't those ruby throats amazing? I've got one that frequents my feeder but it's hardly this plump and I haven't been able to get any this great. Great job!

ReplyDeleteIn the first photo, the red throat is about the only recognizable thing in the dark It is as attention getting as neon!
