I know a lot of people look at starlings as pests but I still think they have very attractive plummage, both summer and especially winter. This is a wonderful 'personality' shot!
dianne: I was standing inside my house for this one and I lightened it some as it was a bit dark. The natural background is the clear sky and there you have it; with a bit of cropping and a tweak of sharpness. Glad you like it, I do too.
deborah: I think the winter plumage of the Starling is beautiful, covered as they are with all those white looking-like snowflakes patterns all over their bodies. How about a 'flurry' of Starlings?
Well, I guess I'm the disenting vote and have never thought they were attractive! This is a lovely shot and makes them look better! Seeing just one instead of hundreds raiding my feeder probably helps :-) They just always look a bit "creepy" to me.
Excellent photo. Starlings do look more handsome in their winter plumage. This picture almost has a Halloween feel to it, or at least an Alfred Hitchcock "The Birds" icon.
