Great Blue Heron in Flight

Sometimes you just have to point your camera skyward and cross your fingers in hopes that you can get a photo.  Such was the case last week one day while standing on the shoulder of the Branch Road when I spied a Great Blue Heron flying overhead. Herons are such magnificent birds!

Earlier the same morning I saw this heron ( shown below) on the shore of a large pond nearby!
