Folly: One Single Impression

she saved everything
materialism filling
her full empty house
***********************

it would be folly
to not believe in magic
metamorphosis

I have only seen one Monarch butterfly this summer season but yesterday found two Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars in the same area where I had seen the butterfly. Two summers ago I brought a Monarch caterpillar home with me and watched the magical changes of metamorphosis take place and finally a beautiful Monarch Butterfly emerged and opened its wings.

This haiku was created in response to the word, 'folly', which is this week's prompt at One Single Impression. For more poetry on this theme please visit the hosting site.

Stunning! I need to do this little project one day, to watch the metamorphosis! It is quite remarkable to literally be able to reinvent yourself!

Stunning photos. I love both of your poems but especially the metamorphosis one.

As always, I enjoy scrolling down the page. All the photos are beatuiful but especially the warbler. I saw my first scarlet tanager this morning. Got a blurry, distant photo. Hoping Ms. Scarlet will return, though.

Very beautiful. We used to have a lot of monarch butterflies here in Hawaii. The crown flower plants used to be covered with them. As a child I LOVED to watch them emerge as butterflies. I don't see many now. I wonder why.

Beautiful photos, and wonderful words on metamorphosis! Makes me want to find a cocoon and just sit there til spring...even though you can't really see the magic happening

The photos and poems are captivating. I really identified with the first-- what a struggle to 'just say no'.

To believe in the potential of metmorphosis--to transform the stuff of this world into new life...

Thanks for this.

I have seen only one monarch this year, too. It's disturbing. I'm glad you came across the caterpillars, though.

So true, that first one!
The second is magic, isn't it??

I missed this post somehow! I think if is so interesting to see the caterpillars that turn into each butterfly. Some of them are as beautiful as the butterflies themselves! Your photos and your poem are perfect.

Wonderful haikus! I like the metamorphasis idea. It is a theme that grabs me as I so wish to change! I'm glad you posted this photo of a monarch as I took one this week of a queeen, which I thought was a monarch until Doug straigthend me out. Troy also gave me some pointers. Now that I see yours I can see the difference! BTW, I finally added my "Folly" poem to the list! It was a tough subject for me to get inspired about.

I came for your OSI ‘folly’ post … but enjoyed EACH of the photos of birds and butterflies ... and all the explanations along the way as I searched for it. Your blog is a nature treasure for sure! Thanks for sharing so generously.

I’ve played twice this week: once on each blog . My OSI Week 23: Folly posts can be found here and here.
Hugs and blessings,
