Ducks and Geese ::: for Camera Critters
They are called Common Goldeneye, but I don't think so common in their beauty, and they could easily have been named 'Polka Dots' for look at the beautiful white dot on the head of these male ducks. We found this group yesterday in the Saint John River at Maugerville.Winging their way over the water these Megansers carried their reflections along with them as they took flight over the Saint John in response to the stopping of our vehicle along the roadside.Seeing these Canada Geese and Mallards was no surprise, but finding this lone, male Ring-necked Duck was. All of these photos were taken along the beautiful Saint John River in the Maugerville area yesterday.

Love those ducks! Very nice shots.
You see such a lot of different ducks, it is always interesting to visit and learn about them! I like your name "polka dot duck"...Maybe you should try quilting one out of polka dots :-) That photo of the mergansers flying and their reflections is great. Their black and white wings make quite a noticble impact. I saw water birds yesterday, too, but at quite a distance.
I too like the reflectin picture, although they are all great.
Blessings,Ruth
great statement not so common in their beauty Sandy i agree
Very nice photos. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Lucky you. I love the reflection of the Megansers. Lisa
They are nice and your right they could be called polka dots pretty.
These are such wonderful photos. I don't think we even have ducks here that I know of. We only have nene geese which are nearly extinct, I think. I appreciate ducks and geese even more knowing that. Thank you for sharing your beautiful shots.
i love the megansers skimming just above the water and their reflections. perfect!!
What a great post of the beautiful ducks and geese! They are so graceful and lovely!
i don't know how i can tell, but it looks cold out on that water! very lovely photos.
Wonderful series--I particularly like the mergansers in flight!
Aren't they so beautiful?
The goldeneye (Bucephala clangula) is a rare winter guest here (Flanders), here their name is "spectacles diver" (the white dots). Beautiful bird series.
Mergansers and Great Northern Divers visited us in winter and we would see Stormy Petrels on occasion.
Lovely shots.
Those are wonderful shots of the birds.
These photos really symbolise a change in the weather.
Absolutely fascinating shots! And that reflection in the last one adds an extra touch of magic!
Watching ducks always makes me feel peaceful for some reason. Great shots.
Great photos. I too have ducks ad geese this week
How pleasant to come and view these restful photos after a crazy hectic couple of days around here!
Amazing shots Ann. The one of the Mergansers is especially eye catching with their reflections.
We don't see Golden Eyes around here either.
You have a variety of ducks, some of which I have never seen in person..
Love the shot of the megansers reflected in the water and the last shot of gray November. It makes me feel as if I were there!
I'm absolutely crazy about that third photo!!! It's AWESOME!
