Early Morning Rising

I am not always aware when there there is a spectacular sunrise in the mornings for my house is located at the bottom of a slight hill and our neighbour's large two storey house on the left blocks our eastern view. This morning however, I had gone out to replenish our birds feeders before full light and I glimpsed a beautiful band of red, pink and yellow on the horizon as I rounded the corner of our house at the front.
I found the first full glimpse of colour breathtaking as I stopped at the end of my driveway and looked up the hill to the east. And when I
arrived at the river, at the viewing point I had hastened to, I could see a hint of yellow in the sky to the left, which would soon rise to full light and disperse the early flush of pink reflected on the river ice.

Beautiful shots Ann. You really have to hurry to get them, for they don't stay around too long. There hve been some spectacular sunrises here too, mostly bringing rain though.

I have a similar situation here, never see sunrises at my place, but your photos and the sense of excitement in your description was great! Will it inspire me to go in search of the sunrise here....well, I'd probably have to actually get in the van and drive for a bit in my area for a good view, so I'll just enjoy yours, especially in this cold!!

I am always envious of persons who can get up this early...and catch a beautiful sunrise. The composition on that second photo is wonderful and all the colors you managed to capture, in how many minutes, was incredible. Thanks for stopping by my robing post..it is difficult to find bloggers who are combining their love of nature with their art of using fabric and threads. I can't WAIT to see your finished starling project.. I am working on a blue bird one myself..Keep in touch and let me know how things are going. You can e-mail me at siennablu@aol.com if you would prefer. ;-)

Wow...red, pink, yellow...terrific sunrise! I don't have a good sunrise view from my house, no matter where I stand. I'm not usually up for the sunrise anyway :-) These are lovely...I like that shot near the river with the pink in the background and the railing.
