Wow..I didn't know about the leg baskets. How cool can bugs bee....GREAT
wow that is one amazing shot
Wonderful images Ann. They really show the pollen baskets up close. These 2 do look tuckered out.
Wow....I've never seen the leg sacs that close and detailed! The only pics I have of them look more yellow and fluffy (maybe it varies with the bee). Your macro lens is super for something like this! Wonderful!
You have wonderful photos on your blog - I took a ramble through before commenting.
This is a wonderful closeup and shows great detail!

mary;
Before I posted this I did some research on legs sacs and its does seem to be a variety in their appearances. Some are dusty yellow looking, some saffron orange and some, like the ones I photographed are shiny and brown. I saw these on several bees so knew they had to be a feature of some kind!
These are really fabulous close ups and so informative too.
Thanks for that information on the leg sacs....I didn't realize they varied that much! I really know very little about bees.
Amazing shots. The post above too. Just amazing. Well done.
In response to this and the one above it. Wow! I didn't know they had those pollen pockets. These are AWW-SUM!
