Coneflowers and a Moth: Today's Flowers
This is a part of my summer garden view which holds many beautiful yellow Coneflowers.
However, the earlier, bright and showy colour of these Yellow Coneflowers are beginning to fade and have now taken on a tattered appearance as the end of our summer season draws to a close.
Still, their bright colourful petals retain a certain attractiveness to me; and its seems to be especially so too, for this little, fully, black and yellow, Spotted Tussock Moth Caterpillar which I found on one of the petals yesterday.
Thank you to Luiz, of Todays Flowers, for this opportunity to share beautiful flowers with others. For more flower photos please click HERE.

Caterpillars are always so funny looking and I never can tell one end from the other....but I guess they know :-) This one is a little beauty in its yellow and black fuzziness. Love the white things sticking out for extra drama.
Great shots and great job on the ID.
Thank you for sharing!
Cheers, Klaus
I agree...tattered but still beautiful! Very nice shots and the caterpillar make them extra special.
Ann: Nicely done with the flower and the catterpillar capture.
Fabulous! I love the caterpillar on the petal!!
These are such nice photos. Your garden is beautiful! I LOVE that first photo especially.
I feel that way about my purple coneflowers. They are fading, but I still enjoy them. Pretty soon the goldfinches will eat the seeds off of them, then I cut them back. The caterpillar on the flower was great!
The coneflowers are still beautiful in my eyes. It won't be long now though till frost, I'm afraid.
Love all of these - the bright coneflower looks almost like an aerial view of a circling dervish, and the caterpillar has quite the punk "do" - thanks for these last views of your summer!
Your garden is beautiful! Beautiful shots of your flowers. I really like that fuzzy caterpillar! :-)
beautiful set of flower pics!
When I looked at this the first time the gardens weren't there! What beautiful gardens you have. Mine are in such bad shape.

What magnificent comparisons you have used! I love your comments. Thank you.
Your garden is very inviting for more than the caterpillar. I love it!
Nice little fellow. My coneflower are going to see and the birds are eating them...
You have such a pretty garden! I love the mix of coneflowers with rudbeckia. My rudbeckia are fading, too, but I do like when they turn that rich, deep red.
This is such a gorgeous series of photos. Also, you've named a caterpiller I have wanted to know the name of since I took a photo of it last year. THANK YOU!!!! :))
Thank you also for poppin into my blog. Always nice seeing you there.
These photos are absolutely gorgeous!
