A California Gull for Ruby Tuesday

Its red orbital ring and red gape are the features which led me to identify this gull as a California Gull. This bird also had yellowish greenish legs.

Got photos with red? Why not share them by posting them to
Ruby Tuesday. To find this delightful red focused meme, please click here.http://workofthepoet.blogspot.com/

My word! How did you get so close?

I’M FOND OF CERISE

For red my affection is great,
It’s puce and chartreuse that I hate.
I’m fond of cerise,
It makes a nice piece
Of clothing that looks just first-rate.

The picture makes 'him' look so proud and regal! I have to confess, that up until the time we moved to Alaska in the late 80's, I had no idea there were so many different varities of sea gulls, all so interesting and unique!

I think these Gulls get their red during breeding season. I never tire of Gull pictures either. Somehow I always have to get at least a few pictures every time I'm around them.

That is a Ring-billed Gull, not a California Gull.
