The Wolf Moon for Skywatch Friday

Wow! This full moon known as the Wolf Moon having derived its name when hungry wolves would howl at the moon on cold January nights. The winter Moon is also an appropriate naming for this full moon.
If you examine this photo carefully near the uppermost curve to the right you can see craters on the moon. I love it!

Skywatch Friday is a long standing meme where sky views from all over the world are posted at:

Kim, I took this photo yesterday morning while I stood freezing in my driveway with my house slippers on.
I used a 'tv' setting on my Canon Rebel while using my 55-250 IS canon lens Photo shop sharpened the image a bit and saturated the colour somewhat. The moon was high in the west when I looked out my pantry window hile making my morning coffee.
Glad you enjoy the photo.

a perfect golden orb...and what wolf wouldn't be attracted to that?

I was watching that same wolf moon and the next night I heard a great-horned owl, my first for the northeast! So...does that make it an owl moon also?

I watched it rise out of the English Channel last night and wished I had a camera to capture it.... you did it for me!

What a stunning and perfect picture!! Thanks for the tip on how you got the shot! The moon really has been beautiful. Unfortunately I have seen the moon-rises on my way home and the night I took my camera with me to stop on the way, it was cloudy...
